John McCain wants 45 new nuclear reactors by 2030 ..

See the full Reuters story available from Yahoo! News here. It appears our politicians are finally getting serious about this energy independence they like to speak of.

John McCain to promote energy conservation and oil and gas exploration ..

See the story from Yahoo! News. And a few highlights of McCain's upcoming speech below:

"Conservation serves a critical national goal."

"I believe it is time for the federal government to lift these restrictions and to put our own reserves to use," he will say. "We can do this in ways that are consistent with sensible standards of environmental protection."

Now the question is which candidate will the people of Garrett County support since neither is for the energy status quo? Hopefully more people will begin to recognize that conservation and changing behaviors are a big part of the solution.

Paulson goes begging ..

Another interesting video and story from Yahoo! Finance. Make sure you turn the sound on to hear their frank and to the point message that things need to change in a lot of respects including conservation. I applaud these guys for trying to educate the American public that we got ourselves into a big mess by borrowing far too much and being far too wasteful and need to give up begging the Middle East for help every week and start doing something to help ourselves. Hopefully the editor of the Republican Newspaper sees this as well, maybe he could gain a new perspective on why oil prices are where they are.
